Dr Lalatendu Mahapatra did his MS (General Surgery) at MKCG Medical College, Berhampur and completed his Senior Residency in the Department of General surgery at UCMS Medical College & GTB Hospital. He obtained specialized training in Surgical Gastroenterology and Minimal Access Surgery at Medanta, The Medicity hospital, where he worked as Associate Consultant in the Departments of Surgical Gastroenterology, Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric surgery before his present stint at AMRI Hospital Bhubaneswar. He also went through an Observership course in Bariatric surgery in Taiwan which added an extra edge to his mastery in this field.

He has chaired and presented many articles in various surgical forums. He also has a large number of publications in his name in national and international journals
